Dear ˿����Ƶ families,

As spring washes away the remnants of winter, students and schools continue to be engaged in activities in support of sustainability and ecological awareness. These activities increase understanding about environmental issues and acknowledge Earth Day on April 22.

The Ministry of Education announced the Putting Student Achievement First Act, 2026 legislation on Monday. Along with other school boards in the province, our work will be to review the new legislation and understand what it means for students, families and the system. We share the government’s commitments to student achievement, good governance and public accountability – and these remain part of our core values as a school district.

April 22 is Administrative Professionals Day. We are thankful for school and department secretaries, administrative assistants, HR, ICT and Finance staff and other office professionals at ˿����Ƶ who offer essential support and services to students, staff, and families and help create safe, welcoming, and inclusive schools and offices.

Last weekend was Holy Friday and Orthodox Easter, and earlier this week ˿����Ƶ community members celebrated Vaisakhi on April 14 and recognized Yom HaShoah on the eve of April 13 and the day of April 14. Information about these and other upcoming days of significance, such as the First Day of the Festival of Ridvan on April 21 and Volunteer Week beginning April 20, is available on ˿����Ƶ’s and @kprschools on social media.

Many ˿����Ƶ staff are participating in important learning at tomorrow’s PA Day. Information about PA Day learning is available on the ˿����Ƶ website.

Community Conversations – Student Census Data

We want to hear from students, parents/guardians, staff, and community members from diverse backgrounds at a series of Community Conversations in the coming weeks. Join us in conversations about the 2025 Student Census data to help us better understand the lived experiences of ˿����Ƶ students.

During the sessions, participants will collaboratively interpret the Student Census data and help identify what the ˿����Ƶ District School Board can do to support the academic achievement and well-being of all students.

Meetings will take place at 6:00pm in-person with a hybrid online attendance option.

STSCO's Annual Opt-In for Transportation Requests��

Student Transportation Services of Central Ontario (STSCO), which oversees busing in Peterborough, Northumberland and Clarington, will be continuing the “opt-in” program for next school year. The opt-in program requires families to confirm their children’s intent to ride the school bus if they are eligible for transportation. Messaging about opting-in is shared directly by STSCO with all eligible families who have a Parent Portal account.
